The main offices for TCHA are located here and house the offices of the Executive Director, Curator of Collections, Programs & Membership Director, and the Feast of the Hunters’ Moon Coordinator. The office is occupied weekdays from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM for business (not research). The building also houses the following:
Frank C. Arganbright Genealogy Center
The Frank C. Arganbright Genealogy Center houses the Alameda McCollough Research Library, Richard B. Wetherill Archives and the TCHA Administrative offices and collections storage. This building is named in honor of the support of Frank C. Arganbright (1919- 2008). Arganbright worked at the Journal and Courier from 1949 to 1972 as a reporter and editor. He was senior editor of the Purdue Office of Public Information in 1972 and worked with the Purdue University News Service until 1985.
Alameda McCoullough Research Library
Alameda McCoullough was a long time TCHA curator and county historian. Her family was long-time residents of Tippecanoe County. Alameda was passionate about genealogy and was instrumental in establishing the first genealogical record collections and indexes housed at TCHA.
Richard B. Wetherill Archives
Dr. Richard B. Wetherill was a local physician, world traveler and amateur historian. He was one of the founders of the Tippecanoe County Historical Association and served as the first president of the Board of Governors. Upon his death in 1940, TCHA received Dr. Wetherill’s entire estate. This donation serves as the foundation of the TCHA’s collections.
OPEN PUBLIC RESEARCH HOURS:
Thursdays – 1st and 3rd of the month 1-7pm, other Thursdays 1-5pm
Fridays – 1- 5 p.m.
Saturdays – 1st of each month 10am-2pm
Appointments can be made for other times by calling the library at 765-476-8411 ext. 2
*Closed holidays and Feast of the Hunters’ Moon weekends.
The library is closed during the month of January.
